What is Sushi?

Sushi has been a traditional Japanese cuisine for hundreds of years. It is usually characterized as uniquely refined, artistically decorated, and yet at the same time subtle.

Sushi is based on steamed rice, and flavored with sweet rice vinegar, fresh vegetables, cooked crab meat (often using the imitation crab meat), or cooked shrimp. It is then shaped, rolled and wrapped with a thin sheet of toasted cultivated seaweed.

There are several kinds of sushi:

  • Inari Sushi: Marinated soybean pockets stuffed with sushi rice.
  • Rainbow Roll: A California roll with Fish(raw) placed on top.
  • Spicy Tuna Roll: A rolled sushi consisting of tuna, mayonnaise, chili sauce, cucumber, seaweed, and vinegared rice.
